Workshop
The next special one day workshop hosted by WHEFA entitled "Insights Into Capital Finance" will be held March 23, 2009. The exact date and location will be decided soon. Financial staff of all tax-exempt healthcare and higher educational institutions in Wisconsin are invited to attend. If your schedule does not allow you to participate, we hope you will pass this announcement on to a colleague who could benefit from these sessions. If you can come, consider inviting someone to attend with you.
Sessions are developed to be of interest to both the novice borrower as well as the veteran finance officer.
This workshop, offered at no cost to participants, is an effort by WHEFA to bring its constituents the latest in information on issues affecting access to capital finance. By utilizing highly qualified professionals, we hope to both educate attendees and stimulate discussion on issues related to capital finance.
If you are contemplating a borrowing in the foreseeable future, this workshop is a must. For those not in the capital markets currently, it will be a great way to keep abreast of the latest financing techniques and issues affecting your outstanding debt and future capital access.
This workshop should qualify for use toward continuing professional education requirements.

Below are the agenda and speaker presentations from the Workshop held on Monday, March 10, 2008.
Understanding the tax-exempt financing process has never been easier. Below is an audio/visual, powerpoint presentation that is designed for those who have never completed a tax-exempt financing or have not done so for a long time. This presentation by John Whiting, a Partner resident in the Madison office of Quarles & Brady LLP, was made on Monday, March 20, 2006 at the 9th annual WHEFA workshop. John has extensive experience in tax-exempt health care and education financings, having provided bond counsel and general counsel services to WHEFA for 25 years. Topics covered during the presentation include legal aspects, terminology, financing team and financing structure issues. The presentation is approximately 1-hour in length and is an excellent learning tool for understanding tax-exempt financing.
